ABOUT THE RECIPE
Bourbon. Pure maple. A pinch of sea salt. Cinnamon.
There is something about an Old Fashioned in autumn—amber in the glass, a little warmth in the air, and nowhere you need to be quite yet.
This version brings together good bourbon, pure maple syrup, cinnamon bitters, and a whisper of Trapani Fine Sea Salt.
It’s simple, warm, and unhurried—the kind of cocktail made for lingering at the table.
INGREDIENTS
2 oz bourbon
½ oz pure maple syrup
A small pinch of Trapani Fine Sea Salt
2 dashes cinnamon bitters
1 dash aromatic bitters
1 large ice cube
Cinnamon stick, for garnish
PREPARATION
1. Add bourbon, maple syrup, Trapani Fine Sea Salt, cinnamon bitters, and aromatic bitters to a mixing glass filled with ice.
2. Stir slowly and thoroughly until well chilled and the salt has completely dissolved.
3. Strain over one large cube of ice in a low rocks glass.
4. Garnish with a cinnamon stick.
Anchored Homestead Note:
It’s the little pinch of sea salt that makes this Old Fashioned special. It softens the sweetness of the maple and draws out the bourbon’s warm notes of caramel, vanilla, and oak, while cinnamon and aromatic bitters bring just enough autumn spice.
Cozy, bourbon-forward, and gently sweet, it’s the kind of cocktail made for cool evenings, a glowing kitchen, and lingering a little longer around the table.
